Institutions pour $47bn into alternatives

Hedge funds attracted $47bn (€36bn) of new investment during the first nine months of this year, with over half the money being invested in funds of hedge funds as institutional investors opted for the relative safety of such products.

According to Hedge Fund Research, the Chicago-based information provider, around $26.4bn poured into funds of funds over the year to the end of September.
