Insurers predict a US recession – but not this year

The investment chiefs of the world’s biggest insurance companies think the largest economy is running out of steam and predict a US recession in either 2020 or 2021.

Amid signs of a slowing global economy – the International Monetary Fund downgraded its 2019 forecasts earlier this month – insurance companies said growth concerns are the top risk to their investment portfolios, according to the annual survey of their views from Goldman Sachs’ asset management division.
