The California Public Employeesâ Retirement System, the largest US public pension scheme with about $245bn in assets under management, has appointed an interim chief executive as it seeks a permanent replacement for Fred Buenrostro, who stepped down last month in the wake of two other high-profile departures from the scheme.
Kenneth Marzion, who has worked at Calpers for 32 years in a variety of roles, has been named to replace Buenrostro until the schemeâs board of administration has filled the role.
