Capital markets and advisory bankers at UBS have helped to lift first quarter profits at the Swiss group’s investment bank by more than 50%.

UBS’s results for the three months to March 31, published today, show revenues in the investment bank, run by divisional president Andrea Orcel, rose by 12% year-on-year to 2 billion Swiss francs ($2 billion).
