The UK’s top market regulator said it plans to subject investment consultants to a full-blown competition review after their pleas for leniency fell on deaf ears.

The Financial Conduct Authority said this morning that it had “provisionally” decided to refer consultants to the Competition and Markets Authority for a full investigation, and will make a final decision in September after a period of industry feedback.
