Philip Edwards, formerly head of strategic research at Mercer, has teamed up with the fund manager-turned-academic Paul Woolley to launch an advisory boutique focused on finance’s social purpose.

Edwards, who left the investment consultancy last July, is chief executive of the new venture, called Ricardo Research. Woolley — a former chair of GMO, the US asset manager, in Europe — will chair the firm.
