Private- equity investor Pantheon Group has hired a private markets specialist from Japanese insurance giant Nippon Life Insurance to oversee its newly-opened office in Tokyo.

Pantheon, a London-based unit of New York-listed asset manager Affiliated Managers Group, announced the launch of its new Tokyo office on Thursday. The firm already had offices in London, San Francisco, New York, Hong Kong, Seoul and Bogotá.
