Investors' climate change resolution wins support at BP Amoco AGM

Efforts by fund managers and corporate governance lobby groups to improve BP Amoco's environmental practices gained ground at the oil and gas company's annual general meeting on Thursday.

More than 7% of the firm's shareholder base voted in favour of a resolution calling for BP Amoco to move away from fossil fuels in a bid to reduce climate change. After the AGM, lobby groups said that the move would place increased pressure on the company to adopt new practices.
