Investors ignore Eastern Europe's strong performance

Investors have ignored Emerging Europe despite a flurry of fund launches and managers stepping up their exposure to the area, according to a report compiled by Standard & Poor's.

S&P's indices for funds in the region have also shown strong performance over the year to May 1, 2002. The S&P/IFIC East Europe index was up 55% and the Emerging Europe index was up by over 26%.
