IT security breaches rise 83%

The number of global financial institutions reporting breaches of their IT systems has doubled since 2002, according to a study by Deloitte, the consultancy.

In Deloitte's 2004 Global Security Survey - compiled from interviews with senior security officers from 100 global firms - 83% of respondents acknowledged that their systems had been compromised this year compared with 39% in 2002.
