Jefferies has hired a Goldman Sachs banker to head up a new push into strategic equity capital markets in Europe as the job market for specialist dealmakers in the region heats up.

Enrico Magnifico, who has worked at Goldman since 2006, is set to join Jefferies as head of strategic equity for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to people familiar with the hire. He will take responsibility for building the business in the region, the people added, as competition heats up in this opaque corner of investment banking.
