Collins Stewart, the UK broker, is in takeover talks with Prebon Marshall Yamane, a rival inter-dealer broker.

A Collins Stewart spokesman said that it had signed a "heads of agreement" with the big shareholders of FPG Holdings, which controls Prebon.
