Walid Chammah has been named head of investment banking at Morgan Stanley as part of John Mack's first major management shake-up since taking over as chairman and chief executive six weeks ago.

Chammah, who like Mack made his name in Morgan Stanley's fixed income division, was previously head of global capital markets. He will report to Zoe Cruz, acting president. Chammah will also join the bank's management committee.
