Bill Johns, a senior financial institutions corporate financier who was sidelined when Salomon Smith Barney acquired Schroders last year, is returning to the firm's New York office after five years in London.

Johns, who will be a managing director in the financial institutions group (FIG), is currently a managing director in the European FIG team in London
