Johnson & Johnson edges closer to $24bn Guidant deal

Johnson & Johnson, the US healthcare company, is closing in on a $24bn (€18bn) acquisition of Guidant, a domestic rival, and may reach an agreement in the next few days.

The company, which is the world's biggest maker of medical devices, has held extended negotiations with Guidant, forcing a delay in a deal being signed.
