The UK government will introduce “creative and imaginative schemes” as its scheme to pay the wages of workers made inactive by the Covid-19 pandemic comes to an end.

“We will go forward with further creative and imaginative schemes to keep our economy moving,” said Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he faced intensified calls from MPs to extend the job-retention scheme.
