Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, the US-based law firm, has become the latest in a series of firms to open its first Italian office, and it is also about to merge with a law firm in Japan.
David Clossey, partner-in-charge of Jones, Day's international practice, said: "Our general view of the international practice is we want to have a significant office in the major business and financial centres around the world. In Europe that meant we had to be in Italy, which was the only major economy where we did not have an office."
