JPMorgan is donating $1m to anti-extremism organisations as well as launching a scheme to match employee donations that could raise a further $1m, following violence at a white supremacists rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Jamie Dimon, the Wall Street bank's chief executive and chairman, has already sent staff a memo in which he said the racism-fuelled violence seen in Charlottesville on the weekend of August 12 — which left one counter-protester dead — has "no place in a country that draws strength from our diversity and humanity".
