JPMorgan says no need for broad lockdowns as UK mulls ramping up restrictions

Chief European Economist David Mackie said that while some restrictions should remain in place, 'there is no need for a broad-based lockdown of the economy and society, as occurred in the spring'

European governments should not impose another strict lockdown as they did at the beginning of the pandemic, a JPMorgan economist said.

The analysis comes as countries in Europe face a second wave of Covid-19 and the UK mulls over additional restrictions to quell the rise in cases over the last few weeks.
