Judge won't approve Citigroup SEC pact

Federal judge refused to approve SEC'S $75m settlement over bank's alleged failure to disclose $40bn in sub-prime securities

A federal judge refused to approve the Securities and Exchange Commission's $75m (€59m) settlement with Citigroup over the bank's alleged failure to disclose nearly $40bn in sub-prime securities.

US District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle said she did not have "sufficient information" to sign off on the deal and asked both sides to file legal briefs to support the settlement.
