Executives at Schroder Salomon Smith Barney are not sulking after the firm was fired by the London Stock Exchange (LSE) as its financial adviser, which was revealed last week in Financial News. Really they're not. But on the same day, surely coincidentally, SSSB's stock exchange analyst Mamoun Tazi quietly downgraded the LSE from an Outperform to a Neutral. By some remarkable twist of fate, Manus Costello, Tazi's counterpart at Merrill Lynch, which unimpressed, arguing that he has increased the LSE's earnings forecasts, it is trading at a serious premium to its peers and the stock has enjoyed a strong run recently. During which time, of course, it was advised by… SSSB.was rehired by the LSE, has upgraded the LSE since the summer from a long-term Buy to a long-term Strong Buy.
