Kirch, the German broadcaster, is positioned to be a majority holder in Formula One and therefore perfectly placed to take Formula One public in the medium term.

While Bernie Ecclestone's wish to take Formula One public may have been eroded by the completion of other forms of funding - a bond issue and share placements - Kirch could own 75% of the company by the end of the year.
