KKR’s second-quarter profit fell from a year earlier as stock market volatility slowed the appreciation of its portfolio, but its results handily beat analysts’ expectations.

The New York private equity firm posted a profit of $93.9 million, or 19 cents a share, down from $376.3 million, or 78 cents a share, the same period a year earlier.
