Kraft IPO shows weight of demand for old economy stocks

A strong showing from investors for the $8.4bn (€10bn) flotation of Kraft, the largest ever straight equity initial public offering (IPO) in the US, brings hope for old economy equity new issues across the globe.

The deal was priced at $31, above the bookbuilding range that had originally been used for the sale, demonstrating that institutions are prepared to put money into well-known, stable businesses.
