Legal & General Investment Management is expected to recruit externally for a new head of active equity fund management after the departure of Peter Knapton.

The loss of Knapton comes as David Rough, group director of investments at the UK house that is renowned for its passive investment expertise, seeks to affirm the firm's commitment to regenerating its active business.
