Lazard Asset Management's star fund manager Simon Roberts, head of UK equities, has quit to join hedge fund operation Blue Crest.

Robert's departure is being seen as a serious blow to the firm by consultants, following the loss of several hedge fund managers including William von Mueffling last year.
