Lazard board meets to plot flotation

The board of Lazard, the independent investment bank, is due to meet in Paris today to pave the way for a formal US filing of its initial public offering. A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission could come as early as tomorrow.

Richard Silverman, a spokesman for Lazard based in New York, declined to comment on the plans or provide any further information.
