Lazard has made two investment banking hires from its rivals, as part of the first step of what the bank called a "dynamic change" to its operations in Germany.

Sven Helmer is due to join Lazard as a director of the bank's real estate investment banking team in Frankfurt at the start of next month from German bank Sal Oppenheim.
