Tom Hayes, the former UBS and Citigroup trader, has hit out at those who imposed a "traumatic" sentence on him for doing his job "the way I was asked to" as he walks out from prison this morning.

Hayes, who was released from HMP Ford prison at 8:45am on 29 January after serving more than five years for rigging the Libor benchmark, said in a statement that he will work on "rebuilding" his life.
