Liffe may delay IPO until 2002

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange, the UK's derivatives exchange, may wait until next year before pressing ahead with its plans for an initial public offering.

Hugh Freedberg, Liffe's chief executive, told eFinancialNews: &quotIt might be premature to talk about 2001 for our IPO. We will probably need the year to deliver evidence to our shareholders. You have to have a growth story and deliver shareholder value.&quot
