LME appoints first COO

The London Metal Exchange has appointed its deputy chief executive to the first-time role of chief operating officer, as the exchange moves to reorganise its business after being acquired by Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing last year.

Diarmuid O'Hegarty will take up the new role, announced yesterday, once the LME has appointed a director of regulation and compliance to take over some of his current responsibilities.
