The London Metal Exchange could become the latest major exchange to sever ties with LCH.Clearnet, its long-standing clearer, after announcing it is considering building its own clearing house.

In a letter to its members issued this morning, Europe's major commodities futures exchange said it was "giving serious consideration" to the possibility of building its own clearing house.
