The London Metal Exchange is to shut down its iconic trading floor, The Ring, with members moving to a back-up site outside the City until it can go fully electronic.

The Ring will move to Chelmsford in Essex from 18 March, LME chief executive Matthew Chamberlain said in a notice to members today.
