London’s most infected boroughs to get more tests for secondary-school children

Health Secretary Matt Hancock wants more testing of children to minimise school closures

The government will make more Covid-19 tests available to secondary school pupils in London’s most infected boroughs and neighbouring parts of Kent and Essex.

London has the highest infection rate in the country with data from Public Health England showing 191.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week to 6 December. That compared with 158.1 cases a week earlier.
