London’s restaurants and bars to receive cash handouts under new tier-two rules, Sunak says

Employers need only pay 5% of wages for employees to get government top ups from November

London’s restaurants and pubs will get cash handouts under a new scheme from Chancellor Rishi Sunak to aid businesses in towns and cities placed under tier-two coronavirus restrictions.

Sunak told Parliament on 22 October that local authorities in areas where Covid-19 is a "high" risk will get enough cash to give all hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses direct cash grants of £2,100 per month.
