The London Stock Exchange, EuropeâÂÂs largest equities market, has hit back at accusations made by its main clearing house that it is stalling on a link to allow competition in clearing, arguing there are âÂÂoutstanding issuesâ between the two companies.
The delay risks angering the European Commission and its internal markets commissioner Charlie McCreevy who gave the industry the chance to reform its clearing and settlement arrangements in November 2006 through the voluntary âcode of conductâ.
