LSE launches light-speed data platform

The London Stock Exchange Group has announced that its Group Ticker Plant project, in development for around five years and designed to provide market data at ultra-fast speeds to traders, is now available.

The platform will distribute real-time market data to traders with a latency of less than five microseconds, using an advanced form of technology known as field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) - hyper-fast computer chips that are able to handle standardised processes such as data dissemination faster than most other forms of technology. The platform was built by the LSE's technology subsidiary, MillenniumIT.
