LSE upbeat despite listings slump

The London Stock Exchange today said it remains optimistic over its financial performance this year and looks forward to further growth, despite listings over the past three months having dropped almost 97% and its share price slumping to a two-year low.

In the exchange's pre-close update for fiscal 2007, released this morning, the LSE said overall trading performance remains "very strong", with average daily value trading up 43% for the year to £9bn.
