The London Stock Exchange's top strategist - who has helped transform the group from its roots in UK equities trading into an exchange spanning clearing, indexing and data - has left.

The departure of David Lester - who has had a hand in the major, transformative initiatives undertaken by the exchange group under current chief executive Xavier Rolet - was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the group.
