M&A financing down two-thirds this year

Bank lending to back mergers and acquisitions has fallen 65% in Europe this year, underlining the severe slowdown in investment banking activity.

Banks had lent just $111.7bn (€134bn) by the end of July to support acquisitions compared with $316m by the same period last year, according to Dealogic Capital Data Loanware.
