Macquarie, the Australian bank, has made the latest in a string of hires for its burgeoning UK investment banking business, as part of the bank's rapid expansion in Europe and plans for the creation of a stockbroking arm in London.

Guy Peddy, formerly a senior equity sales banker at City broker Blue Oak, joined Macquarie earlier this week as an analyst covering telecommunications equity research, based in London.
