Scottish Widows Investment Partnership has appointed Fiach Maguire as director of global marketing, as a prelude to growing its assets under management overseas.

Maguire will be central to the fund manager's expansion plan, which is likely to involve the creation of joint ventures and alliances in a variety of countries. At 42, he has international experience which includes working in the US for 10 years.
