Sir Malcolm Rifkind, former Foreign Secretary and Secretary of State for Scotland, has joined the board of Aberdeen Asset Management as a non-executive director.

Martin Gilbert, Aberdeen chief executive, said: 'There is no doubt that Sir Malcolm brings a wealth of experience and expertise in both domestic and international affairs. This is increasingly important to us as we move to operate on a more global basis.'
