Man Group, the $80.7 billion hedge fund manager, has hired a former member of the Bank of England committee that sets interest rates to sit on its board.

Katharine Barker, who was recognised for services to the economy with a damehood in 2014, will become a non-executive director and member of Man's remuneration committee in April, according to a February 7 statement.
