Bank of England governor Mark Carney has admitted to being "mystified" by the battle taking place at the London Stock Exchange over the future of its chief executive Xavier Rolet.

Rolet announced his decision to step down from the LSE in October, outlining plans to leave before the end of 2018 after almost a decade leading the iconic British institution.
