Maxime Carmignac, daughter of the founder of French asset manager Carmignac Gestion, has been appointed head of the company's year-old London office, in a move that the firm says signals its commitment to the UK.

Carmignac takes up her position as of today, after returning from maternity leave. The move marks a step up to managerial responsibilities for the younger Carmignac, 33, who up until December was a portfolio manager on the firm's international long/short equity fund.
