Theresa May’s snap general election call for June 8 is set to squeeze the amount of time the financial services industry will have to review a raft of new rules due to come in next year.

Throughout the election period the purdah rules – with which UK regulators voluntarily comply – ban government entities from making public statements that could be controversial or beneficial to candidates or parties.
