Towards the end of a bumper year for mergers and acquisitions in 2015, Goldman Sachs has handed four of its senior bankers an extra bit of good news. Here is a closer look at the dealmakers – who have all been with the bank since the 1990s or earlier – now running the show.

Mark Sorrell
Was: Co-head of UK investment banking
Now: Head of M&A in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
Goldman's new European M&A chief will be a familiar name to many, and not just in takeover circles: Sorrell is one of the three sons of advertising tycoon Sir Martin Sorrell. His brothers Robert and Jonathan also worked at the US bank, although Robert, who was co-head of private finance for Emea before leaving the bank and starting a hedge fund in 2009, is now at US boutique Moelis, while Jonathan is the chief financial officer of Man Group.
