“I’ve for a very long time been the most expensive divorce lawyer in London,” Ayesha Vardag says from her plush wood-panelled office overlooking the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral and the statue of Lady Justice atop the Old Bailey.

Her City headquarters are decorated with a Georgian country house in mind, Vardag says.
