UBS has named two co-heads of its investment bank, following current president Andrea Orcel’s decision to quit to become chief executive of Spanish giant Santander.

The Italian, who has overseen one of the most dramatic restructures of any investment bank since the financial crisis, has been replaced by Robert Karofsky, its New York-based global head of equities, and Switzerland-based dealmaker Piero Novelli.
